People who say Hip Hop is dead are the same lazy ass people that listen to main stream music and assume it represents the entire culture.  It’s April, 2018 and Hip Hop is strong as ever – the following are my top artist that I can’t stop listening too.  My criteria:  Freshness, Relevancy (projects released 2018) and my expert fuck’n opinion.

5.  Tha God Fahim 

No Joke, this nigga might be dropping TOO MUCH shit.  I swear damn near every week I get a notification when I open YouTube saying Tha God uploaded another EP – It’s like, chill nigga…I’m not even thru you last one yet!  I ain’t mad tho, I’ve enjoyed all of them.  Got them smooth beats I love along with thoughtful lyrics and nice collaborations with the likes of Mach Hommy who almost made this list himself if it wasn’t for the lack of 2018 material.  Click his picture to hear hear his latest release, but go down the YouTube rabbit hole to hear the shit from last year – gems.

4.  Westside Gunn & Conway the Machine

I mean what can be said that hasn’t been already.  These Buffalo NY brothers and founders of Griselda Records been putting in work for years and the fruits are finally being harvested by breaking through to the mainstream.  Those of us who were on the bandwagon early tried to tell you, once you get the Griselda bug they will be all you listen to in the near future.  With a catalog to work with you’ll be digging through their projects for months with no shame.   Along with their cousin and label mate Benny the Butcher they are the most influential rap collective we’ve seen in a decade.

3.  Willie The Kid

This nigga doesn’t get enough credit.  He been making heat for yeeeeeears…but I recently found this out.  I listened to “Blue Notes” which was released in mid Dec. and instantly regretted forgetting about him.  His flow is unique and casual keeping you engaged before pressing rewind.  Click the here to hear “Gold Rush”, his newest EP with Klever Skemes.  Sit back, relax and coast.

2.  Roc Marciano

Get the fuck outta here.  Royce been my favorite rapper since ’98…so yeah I am bias.  However, 2018 is the first year that there is proof.  After releasing PRhyme 2 to critical success, he’s about to release his magnum opus The Book Of Ryan . with the single “Boblo Boat” feat. J Cole (click the pic)….a song so good it almost mad a grown man cry.  He is finally getting the respect he’s been deserving all these years.  Favorite. Rapper.  Ever.  Fight Me.
